WHERE IS OUR SAFER ROUTE TO SCHOOL?

HAVING AGREED TO CREATE A FOOTPATH from New Farnley Park and Lawns Park Primary Schools, which will run parallel to Lawns Lane, local Labour Activists are still waiting for the Council to provide it.

Pupils and parents from New Farnley currently have to cross Lawns Lane twice on their way to New Farnley Park and Lawns Park Primary Schools and the provision of this new footpath would be a safer means of travel to school for them. It would also benefit other New Farnley residents. John Hardy, Labour Candidate for Farnley and Wortley, is keen for the Council to put the footpath in place as soon as possible. John comments:-
"This was a welcome development and would hopefully encourage more children to walk to school. I want to see more and more children across Leeds walking to school, but it won't happen with empty promises. As with so many other promises from the Tory/LibDem Councillors, we still face a wait to see anything actually happen!"

AT LAST - A SAFER ROUTE TO SCHOOL

Following representations from local residents and John Battle MP, Leeds City Council have agreed to create a footpath from New Farnley to Farnley High and Lawns Park Primary Schools, which will run parallel to Lawns Lane.
Pupils and parents from New Farnley currently have to cross Lawns Lane twice, which is a busy road, on their way to Farnley High and Lawns Park Primary Schools and the provision of a new footpath will be a safer means of travel to school for them. It will also benefit other New Farnley residents.

Stephen Towler, Campaign Officer of Farnley and Wortley Labour Party, says:-
“This is a welcome development. Hopefully this will encourage more children to walk to school, with the attendant benefits. The next step is to convince the Council to 'adopt' some of the unmade roads in New Farnley.”
